    1911 Detail Strip Video

Stripping the 1911 without tools has been mentioned. Last Saturday, Hunter Lee Eliot made the 90-mile trip from our state capitol to record the event.

He makes it look real simple. I used a small punch for the pins & a small screw driver for the mag release, because they were handy, but I had no choice but use needle nose pliers to position the sear & disconnect. No way was I going to do it with just my fingers, as shown.

Yep! Could probably do it blind folded, although I don't see the purpose in doing it that way. Afterall, the idea is to look for things that may need replacing, isn't it?

Glad ya'll liked that little demonstration. Stripping and reassembling the pistol by using its parts as tools has been mentioned a lot, and I thought it would be interesting to see. When I did the workshops, most of the guys said that alone made it worth the trip.

Hunter is comin' back in a few weeks to do more videos...including a live round drop test to see just how much danger it presents. My theory is...not all that much. We're gonna find out in any event.

I also plan to do a slower, tutorial detail strip...for those who haven't ventured into it but would like to.

Along with a quick, dead simple method for disassembling a 7-round magazine with the welded base and the correct, safe way to execute a pinch check...which Steven Seagal does all wrong...and how to lower a hammer without puttin' kittens in peril and causin' the Mississippi River to run backward.

    Stay tuned. Pun intended.
